Job Summary:
The Molecular Oncologist will be responsible for applying molecular biology techniques to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. They will work closely with other healthcare professionals to develop personalized treatment plans for patients based on their individual molecular profiles.
Responsibilities:
- Perform molecular analyses of patient samples, including DNA and RNA sequencing, gene expression profiling, and mutation detection.
- Interpret molecular test results and communicate findings to other healthcare professionals, including pathologists, oncologists, and genetic counselors.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on molecular test results and other clinical information.
- Participate in clinical trials and research projects related to cancer diagnosis and treatment.
- Maintain accurate records of all procedures performed and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in continuing education activities to stay up-to-date with new developments in molecular oncology.
Requirements:
- Medical degree (MD) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in molecular oncology or related field.
- Strong laboratory skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of molecular biology techniques, including DNA and RNA sequencing, gene expression profiling, and mutation detection.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Preferred:
- Board certification in Medical Oncology or Molecular Pathology.
- Experience with next-generation sequencing technologies.
- Experience with bioinformatics tools and analysis platforms.
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
