Hensel Phelps Services District is looking for two candidates that have a high work ethic, ability to interact in a professional manner with students and teachers, and ultimately enjoys low risk predictable workflow. The candidate that will best fit this role is someone who likes predictability of work tasks, single contributor, and can go at your own work pace to accomplish their tasks. In this role you are responsible for making sure the Avenues The World School facility looks neat and presentable to the public. They help uphold the image of a facility by performing basic maintenance tasks including trash removal, front lobby support, restroom restocks, etc. Also referred to as a day porter.
Hourly range: $18.00 - $ 21.00

Position Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5+) plus years as a custodian
- Knowledge of APPA Standards preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to strip and wax/finish hard surface floors.
- Demonstrated ability and understanding of carpet maintenance and deep cleaning techniques.
- Able to operate equipment associated with custodial operations.
- Able to follow oral and written directions.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Prompt, regular, and reliable attendance.
- Ability to perform routine computer functions, including the use of email, Internet navigation and Microsoft Word.
- Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
- Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.
- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
Essential Duties:
- Perform regular custodial duties such as mopping, sweeping, dumping trash, cleaning glass, vacuuming, and changing light bulbs.
- Report maintenance and other needs to the Foreman/Lead Engineer in building.
- Lock and un-lock doors in building according to scheduled activities.
- Set-up and clean-up for special events.
- Shovel snow and operate snow removal equipment.
- Perform exterior cleaning duties such as sweeping sidewalks and picking up trash.
- Move furniture and equipment as needed.
- Respond to the needs of building occupants and users.
- Provide excellent customer service to building staff, students, and other users.
- Other duties as assigned.
