The InterContinental Auckland is searching for the right Housekeeping Manager (pre-opening) to make sure our standards never slip – managing all aspects of our housekeeping and laundry operations to deliver memorable and unique guest experiences every single day. Ideally, this role will start approximately two months from opening subjective to the completion of the Hotel’s construction phases.

Holding the prestigious address of One Queen Street, and amid sprawling laneway shopping and high end dining precincts will be the landmark 139 room InterContinental Auckland Hotel. With spectacular unobstructed waterfront views of Waitematā Bay and frontage on Quay Street, this halo property will be the crown jewel amongst Auckland’s luxury accommodation offerings – and is looking to open throughout Q4 2023.

A little taste of your day-to-day

  • Being part of this pre-opening team will see you setting this beautiful new hotel up ready to receive its first guests
  • Creating new ways of working, receiving hotel goods, and placing them in location, undertaking our IHG Service Training and inspire your new team to InterContinental’s way of working and its brand standards
  • Managing, coaching, and developing a team dedicated to exceptional housekeeping and laundry standards
  • Maintaining and ordering supplies and equipment – whilst minimising waste – in support to our green initiatives
  • Helping refine and prepare budgets that help us maximise profitability
  • Addressing special requests for our guests, VIPs, repeat visitors and Club Members
  • Assisting with deep cleaning projects and occasionally assisting your team during busy periods

What we need from you

  • At least three years experience in a leading housekeeping position in a hotel environment
  • Bachelor’s degree / higher education qualification / equivalent or housekeeping related field
  • Demonstrated excellence in a luxury hotel or similar band
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Opera knowledge or similar Property Management System experience
